Johannes has been a technology enthusiast since the 80s and was – as a journalist – heavily involved in the beginnings of the Internet.
His first e-mail address was s=ext/winkelhage ou=kmx P=gmd a=dbp c=de (X.400 standard) and he paid a fortune for his first computer and the access to the evolving WWW. During the first ten years of his career, he worked as a freelance journalist for magazines, press agencies and all nationwide German daily newspapers.
In 1996, he became business editor at Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. From here he covered the rise of the Internet and the disruptive changes in telecommunications coming along with the digital revolution. He was also responsible for the newspaper coverage of the World Economic Forum in Davos for almost 10 years. In 2009, he joined Deutsche Telekom and heads a small Think Tank located in the CEO’s office. The unit is responsible for special projects including the annual CEO-Conference called “24 Hours”.
Joyce J. Shen
Global Director, Emerging Technology Partnerships and Investments, Thomson Reuters
As the global director of emerging technologies in the CTO office, Joyce (@joycejshen) built and oversees the end-to-end emerging technologies practice at Thomson Reuters. She leads emerging technologies research, startup & ecosystem partnerships, and the emerging tech venture fund.
Joyce is also a faculty lecturer at UC Berkeley School of Information for the Master of Information and Data Science (MIDS) degree program.
Before Thomson Reuters, Joyce was a founding executive member and the first CFO of Cloud Platform at IBM, responsible for launching the Bluemix cloud platform, the Bluemix Garage, and deploying the $1B investment. Joyce also spent several years at IBM Corporate Development, leading numerous acquisitions and divestitures. Joyce received her undergraduate and masters degrees from the University of Chicago. She is a regular writer and speaker on emerging enterprise technologies, startup ecosystem, and product innovations.
Senior Analyst and Managing Director, CLSA Americas LLC
Ed Maguire is Senior Analyst and Managing Director at CLSA Americas, LLC, covering the software industry, technology and innovation. Prior roles include CEO of strategic consultancy firm MAGNet Strategies, Director at Merrill Lynch’s technology investment banking group, Senior Director at Merrill Lynch’s equity research department, and Research Associate at CIBC World Markets.
Prior to Wall Street, he was Senior Sales Manager for Twinbrook Music Distribution and worked extensively performing and recording as a professional musician. Mr. Maguire holds a B.A. in music from Columbia University and an MBA in finance and management information systems from Rutgers Business School. He has appeared extensively in major media including CNBC, CNN, the Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, BNN, NPR and other outlets.
Executive Director and Head of Office, Hyundai Ventures, Hyundai Motor Group
John Suh is the Executive Director of Hyundai Ventures, which focuses on making strategic investments and business partnerships in the United States for the Hyundai Motor Group.
Prior to joining Hyundai, John worked at General Motors, Xerox PARC (Palo Alto Research Center), and several Silicon Valley startups where he had roles in corporate investing, product management, and R&D. John has a BS degree in electrical engineering from Kettering University as well as MS and PhD degrees in mechanical engineering from Stanford University.

Sr. Director - Emerging Technologies & Innovations at PepsiCo
Richard Velazquez (@rich_velazquez) is the Sr. Director for Global R&D leading three teams focused on Emerging Technologies, Materials, and Technical Services. He has over 20 years of experience in New Product Development and joined PepsiCo in 2011.
Prior to Pepsico, Richard led Product Planning and Management for the entire global product portfolio for Xbox 360 hardware at Microsoft. Before Microsoft, he worked in Brand Management at P&G in Puerto Rico.
Richard began his career as an automotive design engineer with Honda R&D in Ohio followed by Porsche in Germany. He has a Mechanical Engineering degree from Cooper Union in NYC and an MBA from UC Berkeley. Richard also lectures on Marketing, New Product Development, and Career Development at several universities.
Global Head of Strategic Leadership Solutions, Duke Corporate Education
Tony O’Driscoll heads Strategic Leadership Solutions for Duke CE. In this role he leads global development of solutions focused on getting leaders ready for what’s next. During his 18-year industry career, Tony held several leadership positions with Nortel Networks and IBM. He was a founding member of IBM Global Service’s Strategy and Change consulting practice. Prior to joining Duke CE, Tony served on the Faculty of Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business and North Carolina State University’s Poole College of Management. At Fuqua, Tony played a key role in redesigning the Cross Continent MBA (CCMBA) program and served as Executive Director of Fuqua’s Center for Technology Entertainment and Media (CTEM), a research center dedicated to understanding the strategic, structural, and business-model issues with these vibrant and volatile industry sectors.
Tony authored Learning in 3D: Adding a New Dimension to Enterprise Learning and Collaboration (Wiley, 2010) examining the impact of the emerging immersive Internet on human capital strategy and practice.
